The short version: KaamShaam is a free shared shopping list, it is offered as-is, and everything you put in a household is visible to everyone else in that household. The rest of this page is the same thing said carefully.

What this is
KaamShaam is an app for keeping a shopping list that several people share. You create or join a household, and everyone in it sees and edits the same list. It works without a signal and catches up when one comes back.
It is made and run by Abeera Umair, an independent developer. Using the app means accepting what is on this page.
It is free
There is no charge, no subscription, no trial that ends, and no payment of any kind. There are no adverts and nothing is sold — not the app, and not your data. If that ever changes, it will be announced in the app before it happens, not applied quietly.
A household sees everything in it
This is the product, and it is worth being sure about
Every item, quantity, note and preferred store you add to a household is visible to every other member of that household, and so is your display name.
There is no private area inside a household. Only add things you are happy for the other members to see, and only join a household whose members you know.
What is collected and who else can see it is set out in the privacy policy.
Your account
- You need a working email address, and you are responsible for keeping your password to yourself.
- One account is one person. Do not share a login; add the other person to your household instead, which is what households are for.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. The app is not directed at children.
- Tell us at the address below if you think someone else has got into your account.
What you may not do
Nothing surprising, but it has to be written down:
- Do not use the app to break the law, or to harass, threaten or impersonate anybody.
- Do not try to break into other people's accounts or households, or to read data that is not yours.
- Do not attack the service - no attempts to overwhelm it, probe it for holes, or work around its rate limits.
- Do not resell the service or pass it off as your own.
- Do not upload anything unlawful into a list.
An account doing any of this can be closed without notice. That is a last resort rather than a first one, but an app that several people share has to be able to remove somebody who is spoiling it.
What is not promised
This is the honest part, and it is the reason to read the page.
- There is no uptime guarantee. The service runs on free hosting that goes to sleep when nobody has used it, so the first request after a quiet spell can take tens of seconds or time out. Try again and it will wake.
- There is no guaranteed support response time. Email is read and answered by one person, not a team.
- There is no guarantee your data cannot be lost. Take your own note of anything you could not stand to lose - a shopping list is not a place to keep something irreplaceable.
- Features can change or be removed, and the app can stop being offered. If it is going to shut down, there will be notice and a way to get your list out.
The app is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Abeera Umair is not liable for loss arising from using it, from it being unavailable, or from data being lost. Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed by agreement, and in some places there are such rights.
Ending it
You can stop using KaamShaam whenever you like. Deleting your account is described on the delete your account page, including what is removed, what stays with the household, and what happens if you are the one who created it.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change that affects what you can expect will be shown in the app rather than left here to be discovered.
